Warm Wishes and Safe Holidays to All!!

Just on a personal note, I hope everyone had a great 2015! I thank each and every one of you for your dedication and spirit of goodness in the work you do each and every day!

As we careen towards the new year and the 2nd semester in schools, please know that school districts aren't finished with filling their open positions. This is the time of year where it actually makes more sense for them to use a contract service, as maternity leaves extend, spouses get relocated and caseloads increase. Often, these shorter term positions are best handled by a contract service, as all 80 of us are in the office 40+ hours a week specifically to recruit and take care of all the credentialing that is required of each of you before you report for duty.

So, having said that, I will also mention that all the open jobs you see on line are not always there; they may have been open when the job was posted, but could have been closed out by the next day. Some of them are also picked up by other websites who re-post them. (I've never understood how that is an advantage for their business.) The jobs flash off and on at a dizzying pace in here; I can barely keep up with it myself. It's always best to check with a recruiter that you trust to check on the status of the job in which you are interested. For this post, I am only listing the school jobs for which I am responsible, as I know the status of each of them. So....here ya go!

Bilingual (Spanish/English)SLP/ccc - Ft. Worth, TX

SLP - Reading, PA

OT - Albuquerque, NM

SLP - Las Cruces, NM

I know that's "slim pickens", but as soon as all the directors return from their holiday break, I bet they will return to countless resignations or moms who have decided to stay home with their baby until the next school year or just the typical shifting of life that comes about at the start of a new year.

Thanks again to all of you Special Ed Angels for all you do to advance the children in your community. I am in awe of each of you!

Call me at 770-325-0234 or email me at millie.simpson@soliant.com if I can help with anything.

Happy Holidays, y'all!

The Hills are Alive!

There is a school district in Northwest Colorado who would love to hear your rendition of this most famous song from the Sound of Music! When you're not being one with the mountains, they hope you'll also use your Occupational Therapy skills to serve their school children. This school district west of Vail, CO is seeking an OT to join their district for the remainder of the 2015-2016 school year.

This area of Colorado has attractions such as Rifle Mountain Park, popular with rock climbers; Rifle Falls State Park, Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery, Rifle Gap State Park, and Harvey Gap State Park. The city also has a golf course, a theater, and hosts a yearly fair that includes professional rodeos, bull riding, live music and a demolition derby.

If you think you might like to "get away from it all" and relax next to the fire and read a great book, yet have access to numerous outdoor activities and small town functions, this school district is ready to greet you with open arms....ala Julie Andrews' famous stance in the Sound of Music!

If you'd like more information about this open position, give me a call at 770-325-0234 or drop me a note at millie.simpson@soliant.com.

PS I'm an alto; that song never worked for me......

New Orleans SLP or CFY or SLPA job

I don't usually post a blog for just one particular open job, but I'm making an exception to help a school district just outside of The Big Easy. They need a Speech Therapist...will take an SLP-ccc, a new grad, CF or a bachelor's level SLPA. This is a short term assignment filling in for a maternity leave. They need someone ASAP, and pay will depend on your level (SLP-ccc will, of course, pay better than an SLPA).

It is an elementary caseload, and could be anywhere from 3-5 days per week. Please email me at millie.simpson@soliant.com or call my desk at (770) 325-0234 if you are interested or pass me along if you know anyone who might be! Thanks, all!!

How about an escape TO the big city?

Just to turn my last post upside down, I thought I'd make a list of big city jobs we have available. You might be living in a "one horse" town and would like a taste of city life. You know the drill; call me at (770) 325-0234 or drop me a note at millie.simpson@soliant.com. So...here's some of the jobs we have open in some of the best big (or at least popular) cities around the county:

Albuquerque, NM The hot air balloon capital of the world, outdoor activities galore and vista's to write home to your mama about!

Atlanta, GA Just name something; you'll find it here in Atlanta (that's where I'm based). Outdoor festivals, hiking trails, movie stars-we've got it all!

Tucson, AZ Golf-yep; rock climbing-to your heart's content; western history-think Wyatt Earp, Pancho Villa, and Cochise

Minneapolis, MN A bustling city with shopping, museums, festivals and year-round activies. This "City of Lakes" is a boater's dream!

Naples, FL Not a huge city, but there's BEACHES everywhere, world-class shopping and SEA FOOD!

San Francisco, CA We may not have positions right in the city, but we have several within an hours drive. Weekend trips to Haight Ashbury, cable cars, Nob Hill

St. Louis, MO Love baseball? Got it! Love beer? Breweries! How 'bout a cruise on a paddle boat. Louis & Clark made some history here.

Indianapolis, IN Not a huge city, but a really clean, sweet metropolis. Lots of great shopping, baseball and a variety of sports bars all within a 5 mile radius.

Thinking of escaping from Big City Life? We've got ya covered!

If you're like me, your mind occasionally fantasizes about life sans traffic jams, not worrying about locking your doors, listening to owls and crickets at night instead of sirens and loud neighbors and just plum simplifying life! We can help to make that come true for you. If you are a Special Ed Professional, Speech, Occupational, Physical therapist, a School Psychologist, Sign Language Interpreter or any other expert in the field of Special Education, I'd like to invade your thoughts with some of the locations below and give you an alternative to the frantic environment that is "city life". Listed below are some of the school locales with populations under 10,000 that are looking to complete their employment rosters for the 2015-2016 school year with a contractor/travel professional. Give me a call at (770) 325-0234 or email me at millie.simpson@soliant.com if you'd like to hear more!

Rifle, CO

Population: approx 9200

When you'd rather be outdoors instead of reading by a cozy fire, you'll find opportunities for skiing, hiking, fishing and rock climbing. There's even an area called the Book Cliffs if you'd like to combine your interests. ;-}

Marlborough, CT

Population: approx 6500

Just 35 miles from the seaport city of New London-sailing, fishing, great seafood restaurants.

Demorest, GA

Population: approx 1500

Poised on the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, a hiker's dream spot! This is a sweet little college town with sports, theatre and museums for those rainy days.

Bridgton, ME

Population: approx 5400

Of course there's skiing and beautiful vistas and an easy weekend jaunt to Portland-lighthouses, seafood, sailing. It is also the home of the Birthwise Midwifery School.

Lillington, NC

Population: approx 3300

This is just 30 miles south of Raleigh, NC if you miss anything about big (really kind of medium-sized) cities. This is a sweet little southern town, with a picturesque town square and friendly people. Visit the Polar Plunge Yogurt Shop where they boast over 60 fresh toppings to add to your "healthy ice cream" treat!

Poteau, OK

Population: approx 8600

Just 30 miles south of Ft. Smith, AR. Think model towns for books/movies such as True Grit and Lonesome Dove. Crime stats are nearly non-existent and your momma would approve!

♫ Like moonlight through the pines ♫

Georgia, Georgia ♫ ♫

If you've always wanted to come to Georgia, we can get you there! There are so many open school jobs in our state (I'm in the Atlanta area, myself), that it fills up an entire page on our jobs list!

There are locations in Atlanta suburbs, north of, south of, east of and west of Atlanta proper; as well as some right in the city.

We especially need Speech Pathologists, and most districts have supervision for new grads, so CFY's are encouraged to apply!

OT's are needed in the south and east suburbs (think Vampire Diaries film set locale).

Other areas of Georgia for SLP/CFY, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists are: Gainesville, Columbus, Athens, Macon, Newnan, Griffin and the lovely North Georgia mountain areas!

Call me for details if you have an interest, 770-325-0234, or send me a note at millie.simpson@soliant.com. I'd be glad to arrange an interview. Directors are making offers NOW, as school starts in most districts by 8/24, if not before!
