Dear Oklahoma, Maybe we can help!!
There are no words to write that can ease the suffering of those caught in the horrific weather occurrences of the past two weeks in Oklahoma. All of the country is concerned and many wondering what they might do to help. As many have, I have made a donation to the Red Cross. If you haven't done so, please give whatever you are able.
Let me offer a suggestion that might be a little outside the box to assist in a temporary housing/employment solution. After Katrina hit New Orleans several years ago, many people just needed to get out of the area. My organization (and many others like ours) helped people find jobs in other states (some near enough that people could go back to New Orleans on weekends to tend to the business of reclaiming their former lives). We have a housing department that can set up an apartment for you near the contract job that we secure for you, or we can give you tax-free housing stipends for you to find a place on your own. If you decide to completely relocate, we can also assist in finding work and housing for that scenario. You might check out some of my previous posts for jobs for the upcoming school year to consider a location that would interest you and your family for either a temporary solution or for a long term adjustment in your life. My department focuses on school/pediatric positions, but we have nursing, locums, government and therapy departments as well. I will be glad to direct you to the most qualified recruiter for assistance in locating work in your area of expertise.
If anyone in Oklahoma (or any other area affected by devastation) is a professional healthcare worker (nurse, doctor, therapist, special ed professional, etc.) and you need temporary work/housing while you rebuild your life, please give me a call. (866-874-7390) You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
